Stilo and Aurea: the joy of designing something new

Every new collection begins in the same way: a blank sheet of paper, and the freedom to try something that didn’t exist before. It’s the part of our work we enjoy the most.

Even before the stone, the metal, or the proportions to be calculated to the nearest tenth of a millimetre, there’s an idea circulating around the workshop; we discuss it, sketch it out, scrap it and start again.

Stilo and Aurea were born from two different ways of answering the same question: what else can we invent, within a craft we’ve been practising for two generations?

STILO – A precious mark on the skin

We began with a gesture, not an object: a vertical, thread-like line that rises lightly and tapers towards the tip. The starting point is a small, precious clasp, a rectangular stone and a pavé setting, from which everything else emerges: a long metallic line that seems drawn in the air rather than fashioned from gold.

We wanted a piece of jewellery that would behave like a pencil stroke: essential, decisive, capable of capturing the light along its entire length.

As we describe this collection, “a precious mark on the skin”, this is the simplest explanation of what we set out to do: to transform the shape of the jewellery into a graphic gesture that rests in harmony with the skin.

AUREA – Perfection around light

Whilst Stilo was born from a line, Aurea was born from a balance. “Perfection around light”: a central stone and a precious setting that accompanies it, without ever overshadowing it.

It’s a more delicate process than it seems. The tricky part isn’t choosing the stone; it’s deciding how much gold to leave around it. Too much setting and the stone loses its breathing space. Too little and the piece loses its structure.

It took several designs before we found the right proportions.

How a piece of jewellery is created, our way

Behind the joy of creating a new design lies a production process entirely controlled by us, which maintains a direct relationship with expert craftsmen. This really matters to us: it means having creative freedom and the opportunity for discussion, continuous improvement and meticulous quality control over every piece of jewellery produced.

For us, being RJC-certified means continuing to verify, with the same rigour as always, that the way we work lives up to what we promise. Certification is not a point of arrival; it is a process that raises the bar on corporate ethics, human rights, working conditions and environmental impact throughout the entire supply chain, from the selection of materials right through to the finished piece of jewellery.
